Good afternoon class of 2024,
Welcome to December! We hope everybody has had a great week, and we look forward to seeing many of you this evening at the KSS semi formal. A few important updates are included in the email below- please read through carefully.
Midterm Reports & Full Disclosure
Midterm report cards were distributed on Wednesday this week. The full disclosure for semester 1 courses is Friday, December 8th. Any semester 1 courses dropped prior to this date will not show on your final transcript. If you have any questions or concerns with your current schedule, please connect with a member of the KSS Student Services team. Any students who have applied to University or College can check their applications to make sure all midterm mark information has been accurately reported. Please check carefully if you are taking a course outside of KSS (e.g. online, night school, etc.). If you have any questions or concerns about the transcript on your application, please connect with Tamiko Ferguson ([email protected]).

Important Update re: Dalhousie University
Several KSS students have been applying to Dalhousie University. Dalhousie's preference is that you submit (and pay for) your OUAC application first, so that you can use your OUAC reference number in your Dalhousie application. In addition to being asked for your OUAC reference number, you will also be asked to self-report your grade 11 and 12 marks to date. If you need any assistance with this, please book a student services appointment at a time that works for you. If you are NOT asked to self-report your grades, it is possible you have made an error or have skipped a step. You can reach out to Dalhousie directly for any assistance (902) 494-2450 or email [email protected].
Housing 101 Workshop- December 11
On Monday, December 11th we will be hosting a Housing 101 workshop run by HomeBase Kingston. This workshop is intended for students who may need guidance on how to obtain housing in the future and/or students who may be thinking about leaving their home or who have been asked to leave their home. All students are welcome- whether they are looking for housing urgently in the short term, or plan to in the years ahead. Come on out to the library at lunch on Monday, December 11!
Volunteer Opportunities
All grade 12 students must complete 40 hours of community volunteer work prior to graduation in June. See upcoming volunteer opportunities below. *Students who are new to Ontario this year should connect with the Student Services team to confirm the number of volunteer hours required.
