School Events:

  • Last Chance to apply to SA for next year! Applications for treasurer, communications, STEM rep, arts rep and equity are due TODAY at 5pm!! See the Qr codes around the school to apply. Please ask your teacher if you would like help with the application.
  • If you applied as a leader for next year's leadership conference, the list of leaders will be posted on the third floor bulletin boards during period  B today.  We appreciate your patience, there were a lot of really fabulous applications for us to read through.  Please see Ms Howie in room 324 if you have any questions.
  • There will be a candy and brownie fundraiser sale at lunch in the atrium. You can either buy a bag of candy for 2.50$, a brownie for 3$, or both for 5$.
  • Sticker sale going on tomorrow at lunch in the main foyer. Come down to get your own limited edition stickers designed by KSS student Milan Rice. Stickers will be sold for $3 a piece. 
  • Starting this Friday, gsa will be selling tickets during lunch for the Lavender Woods queer semi-formal, which will be held on June 2nd in the drama room. Tickets are $10 and will be sold every Friday at lunch in the library. If you have any questions feel free to dm the kss gsa Instagram account.
  • Relay participants! Have you handed in your permission form? These must be handed in by Friday, May 27th and are mandatory to attend Relay. If you don’t have one, come by and collect it in room 226 ASAP. Thanks!

Clubs:

  • KSS, guess what? DECA. Is. Back. Are YOU ready to carry on the DECA legacy? Are YOU ready to help students create a memorable, fulfilling high school experience? If so, apply to be a member of the DECA executive team! You can access the application form through QR codes found on posters located around the school OR through our Instagram page @kingstondeca. Applications are due by May 31st, and remember, no experience is necessary to apply.
  • HOSA Exec applications are out on instagram (@ksshosa) until May 25th!! 
  • The KSS Translation Project will be meeting at lunch today in room 323. 

Athletics:

  • Attention all athletes!  Tickets for the athletic banquet are on sale today at lunch in the foyer for $5.  The banquet includes dinner, awards and prizes.  Pick up you ticket this week and come out and celebrate a great year of sport with your teammates!
  • The Jr Girls Soccer team plays their semi-final game at Regi at 3:45 today. Come on out and support the Bears as they look to earn their spot in the finals!
  • Reminder of the Ultimate Frisbee practice today after school on the main field.
  • This is your last day to buy Prom tickets before the prices go up! Head to Instagram to get registered.

  • The snuggly bears relay for life team is holding their cookie order fundraiser today and tomorrow in the atrium. Grade 9 and 10s orders are available today. Forgot to order? Extras will be available, so come to the atrium for some delicious cookies.
  • Barbecues are back! This Friday starting at lunch, all students can head down to the back of the school for some free burgers.  There will also be games, races and music! Get excited for the very first barbecue of KSS history.
  • There will be a meeting for all Relay for Life Team Captains Thursday at lunch in room 226. Be there or be square.
  • Are you kind, organized, responsible and interested in collaborating on some KSS events for next year? Apply to the Students Association! Applications are now available for Treasurer, Communications, Equity Rep, Arts Rep and Stem Rep. Please see the QR Code around the school or in your home form. Applications due Tuesday May 24th!
  • Artists, musicians, writers, organizers and actors. Your help is still needed with our very own KSS Origional Musical - Secrets. Every Monday and Wednesday at lunch in the music room. Contact Ms. Hale to join the google classroom and feel free to drop in anytime - as you are able. This June expect to hear about our staged reading for a real live audience.
  • With this school coming to an close we should take the time to thank all the amazing staff members at KSS. Scan the QR Code or find the link in the @kssbears Instagram bio to send a kind message to a teacher or staff member at our school. Submissions are due by May 20th.

The trip will include a visit to the War Museum, Holocaust Monument and the Diefenbunker.  Grade 10 students who took history this year are welcome to attend. See Ms. McLachlin or Ms. Siltanen for details and permission forms.

  • Congratulations to the senior girls soccer team for a well played season!!  We wish those athletes who are graduating all the best and thank you for years of dedication. Please look for an announcement about our year end pizza party and don’t forget to turn your uniform into Ms. Evans

Athletics:

  • Congratulations to the KSS Tennis players who competed in the EOSSAA tournament yesterday. It was a beautiful day for tennis and when all was said and done the team ended up sharing the championship trophy with Regi. Special congrats to the following athletes 
    • Sam Rayner (Gold medal - Senior Boys Singles - and qualified for OFSSAA)
    • Jack Ambrose (Silver medal - Junior Boys Singles)
    • Jack Flynn & Eli Payne (Gold medal - Junior Boys Doubles)
    • Liam Prescott & Pranjol Das (Silver medal - Junior Boys Doubles)
  • The team has had a great season and everyone is to be congratulated for their hard work and improvements. See you next spring!
  • Last night, the Jr Girls Soccer team played a hard-fought quarter-final game against Holy Cross. Despite their efforts, the Bears went down 2 goals in the first half. However, the team did not give up. They clawed their way back to a tie thanks to two goals by Teagan Reid, pushing the game to overtime. With only minutes left, Sarah Beaupre managed to score one more off a deflection to win the game! An amazing showing all around, but special shoutouts to Teagan for her grit and determination, Gracie Abbink for her excellent work in the net, and Aya Ghassel for her stellar performance in the defense. The Bears play their semi-final game at 3:45 on Tuesday, May 24th at Regi. Come on out and support the team!
  • The Junior boys soccer team came out with a strong showing to start their playoffs with a 5-nil victory over Sydenham. Dante and Levi got a goal each and Pranjol once again came out with a lot of heart getting another hat trick, scoring three before half. With amazing defending coming from Will and Henry, the team is moving to the semis next week, go bears go!

Good Morning, this is Mr. Gibson speaking with an announcement about our SA speeches and voting. 

All homeroom teachers will show the election speeches in their class this morning. After speeches, please have students vote for their candidates of choice. To access ballots for their grade, students need to access the link that is found in their school email. Teachers will also find links to speeches ballots posted today in the KINGS Collaboration area. 

Voting will remain open until 12:00pm today. Thank you to all of our candidates for your interest, and thank you to all students for exercising your right to vote!

  • Barbecues are back! Today at lunch, students will head down at staggered times to the back of the school for some free burgers. There are vegetarian and gluten free options available, and also games, music! Make sûre to bring down some spare change as we will be selling foccacia, and the GSA will be hosting a bake sale. We are so happy to celebrate the end of the school year outside together, so get excited for the very first barbecue of KSS history!!!
