Boardroom Briefs is intended to provide highlights of presentations, reports and decisions made at the regular meeting of the Limestone District School Board of Trustees. The following are highlights of the August 21, 2024, Committee of the Whole Board Meeting.

Student timetables will be available through the Aspen student portal by Friday, August 23. We realize that some students still have scheduling issues (e.g., conflicts or gaps in their timetable), and our student services team is continuing to work through these issues.

Several Limestone District School Board (LDSB) graduates have been awarded significant scholarships to put toward their post-secondary education this fall. Seth Morency has been selected to receive a $120,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship to study engineering at Dalhousie University.

Limestone District School Board is thrilled to announce that Lara Paterson, a dedicated member of the Limestone team, has been awarded the prestigious Ophea Award of Distinction.

The 2024 KSS Graduation Ceremony will take place at 4:00PM on Thursday, June 27 at Slush Puppie Place (formerly the Leon’s Centre). Please see invitation attached to this email. We look forward to welcoming you, and celebrating this incredible class!

Limestone’s Board of Trustees had the honour of having the Skills Ontario Competition Awards at the Education, Policy, and Operations Committee meeting on June 5, 2024.

Get Your BEARings, our Grade 9 orientation day will run on August 28th from 8:30-2:30. Students will spend the morning in a Link Crew getting to know other Grade 9 students and learning what life at KSS is all about. In the afternoon, students will get to move through their timetable.

June is National Indigenous History Month. This month is an opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures, traditions, and experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.

KSS Jazz Band Brings Home Silver! In March, our KSS Jazz Band travelled to Humber College to participate in the MusicFest Regional competition where they earned a Gold level and an invitation to the National Event later in the year!

The Limestone District School Board is seeking new members for the Technical Advisory Group for the next phase of Student Census data collection. The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is to give advice, opinions, and make recommendations in the design of methods for data collection,

The pantry is for students and their families whose food budgets are smaller than usual. The KSS pantry offers students an option to come and pick out some non-perishable groceries for free, no questions asked.
