  • Did you know that coffee was first discovered in Yemen to help muslims stay awake during their late-night religious devotions?  This practice spread coffee's consumption throughout Yemen and later to other parts of the world.

Dive deep into current events, debate controversial issues, and develop your critical thinking skills in a supportive environment. Whether you're passionate about social justice, global phenomena, or just love a good debate, Critical Theory is the place for you. Meetings are in room 301. That's Mondays in room 301—come ready to think, discuss, and make a difference!

  • Congratulations to all DECA members who competed at Mock Regionals on Thursday! With over 5 attending schools, our KSS students performed with excellence. A special congratulations to our KSS finalists: Tvisha Pavagadhi, Lucy Wang, Liam Desre, Sophie Yao, Nour Ghassel, and Heliya Khaefi for receiving top scores in their respective categories. What a fantastic night for KSS DECA!

Athletics:

  • Hey bears! The KSS Swim Season is around the corner, If you are interested in joining our team come to room 227 at lunch this Thursday Oct 30 for a quick pre season meeting.  
  • The KSS Curling Team is Calling! If you are interested in trying curling for the first time or re-joining our team please come to a meeting at lunch on TODAY  from 11:10-11:40 in room 306. 
  • The cross country team continued their dominance last Thursday over their eastern Ontario rivals by winning five divisions and finishing second in the sixth. There are 70 schools in Ontario and only the top two in each division move onto OFSAA, quite an accomplishment to have all 6 teams move on for next week. Top individual finishers were Levi Paterson first and Noah Logan third in the novice boys race. Tessa Sauerbrei third in the novice girls race. Vicky Malik first and Eva Andrecyk third in the junior girls race. Jack Wordley fifth in the junior boys race. Athena Andrecyk first in the senior girls race and Daniel Mahoney 8th in a senior boys race.

  • Here's a fun fact for the Latin American heritage month: The world’s first color TV system — invented by Guillermo González Camarena (Mexico, 1940s). His tech was so advanced NASA used his color system in early space missions.

  • Hey KSS! Here’s your daily dose of Islamic history fun fact! Did you know that algebra was invented by Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi, a Persian mathematician in the 9th century? In addition the word algebra comes from the arabic word “al jabr” meaning “restoration”
