Monday September 14

To begin, let us acknowledge that KSS is situated on traditional Anishinaabe (Ah- nish-in-ah-bay) and Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-o-show-nee) territory. We are grateful to be able to live and learn on these lands.

Clubs: 

• Hey Bears! Student council applications are officially open!!! The positions are Grade 9 rep, open to only grade 9s, Jr. Equity rep open to 9s and 10s, and grade 12 rep only open to grade 12s. But also don’t forget about general council, open to everybody!!!  Applications are due Friday September 18th at 3pm! You can find the link to the form in the KSS bears bio or on posters around the school!

Athletics:

• Calling all Girl Golfers! Let's put together a team! See Mr. F in 326 for details! 

Tuesday September 15^th, 2026

• Today is Central American Independence Day, marking the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Clubs: `

• Want to build muscle? Join K-Fit: KSS's weightlifting club. We run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at lunch, and after school when staff are present, in room 231. We start on Wednesday, September 9th. See you there!
• Interested in making KSS a little greener? Join Eco Circle, meeting Wednesdays at lunch! We’re a club focused on taking green initiatives and making a positive environmental impact in our community. We’re looking for new members, and everyone is welcome! 
• Interested in playing in a band? Join Concert Band, open to anyone interested in playing a band instrument! Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. Come out and make some music with us!
• Just a reminder that the cafeteria will be reopening this Wednesday, for pizza day! yumm yumm
• Get ready for a delicious week ahead! The cafeteria will be serving Pizza Wednesday, Chicken alfredo on Thursday, and Friday will be savoury beef nachos with corn salad, and cinnamon sugar fritters. Veggie options available each day! 
• Attention KSS students! STEM Fellowship, a nationally recognized organization, has officially launched a chapter at our school. As a member, you will have the opportunity to compete in national challenges, get placed in real university research labs, develop skills in data science and scholarly writing, and connect with students and professionals across Canada. Come join us for our first meeting this Friday at lunch in Room 227. All grades welcome — hope to see you there
• KSS DECA registration form is due today, september 15th, at 11:59 pm so if you want to be a member please submit the form by 11:59! The form can we found in the kss deca instagram bio!

• Attention KSS Teachers:  Student volunteers will be collecting recycling beginning today, Wednesday September 16th.  If you are on the main floor, please put your recycling outside your classroom on Mondays at the start of Period 3.  If you are on the second floor, please put your recycling outside your classroom on Wednesdays at the start of Period 3.  If you are on the third floor, please put your recycling outside your classroom on Fridays at the start of Period 3.  Thank you

Thursday, September 17th

• Picture Proofs are being distributed in Home rooms today.  If you don’t have a first period class, please come to the office to pick up your picture proof.

Read the Grade 12 Friday email and stop in to Student Services to pick up an application. Applications are due October 1st!

Athletics:

• What a terrific game opener for girls’ field hockey! A special thank you to our newer players for hitting the pitch the first night! Cambria #11 had an early goal to start us off, assisted by Mara #28. Cambria continued to support her teammates with two assists in each half, creating plays for Amaya #4 & Leia #29! The Black Knights awarded Lyla #6 with Player of the Match! Thank you for your leadership is also owed to Mila #7 & Maggie #15. Stay tuned for a double-header next week!
