Posted on 06/07/2022

Good afternoon Class of 2022!

With exams and culminating activities behind you, we hope you are entering this weekend with a sense of satisfaction and perhaps some relief!  You should all be very proud of your individual accomplishments and achievements this year.  We are looking forward to celebrating those of you who will graduate next week at the Leon’s Centre.  See important graduation information below:

Graduation 2022 Reminders and Additional Details

Step 1:  Graduation Registration: Monday, June 27, 2022

Graduation Registration will take place in the KSS library on Monday June 27 from 8am-10am and 12-2pm. This is where you:

  • Pick up your cap and gown
  • Pick up as many tickets as required for Wednesday’s ceremony.  All guests will require a ticket to enter the Leon’s Centre. Graduates do not require a ticket.
  • Pay your contribution to the KSS grad fund (this is a voluntary contribution- recommended $15 per graduate).

If you are unable to come to the school on Monday, a parent/guardian can come on your behalf.

Step 2:  Take photos!

We are intentionally distributing caps and gowns in advance so you will have opportunity to take photos prior to the ceremony.  Gowns will be returned immediately after the ceremony, so please remember to take any photos you’d like with the gown before hand.  The graduation caps are yours to keep!

Step 3:  Wednesday, June 29- Graduation Day!

  • Graduates arrive at the Leon’s Centre by 3:15pm
    • Please arrive wearing your cap and gown no later than 3:15pm
    • Enter at the main entrance on The Tragically Hip Way
    • Guests can arrive any time after 3:15pm
    • Please note:  Accessible seating is available for both graduates and guests.
  • Ceremony begins at 4PM

What to expect when you graduate:

  •  Attached to this email is a photo from another school’s ceremony at the Leon’s centre for your reference.
  • Graduates will line up behind the black curtain prior to the ceremony.  Staff will direct you where to walk as we enter the arena. Once inside the arena, graduates will be seated in the chairs on the floor.
  • All guests will be sitting in the bleachers around the arena- not a bad seat in the house!
  •  When it comes time to graduate, KSS Staff will help students each step of the way.  Grads do not need to know where to go- just follow the staff instructions. Note: there is a ramp to the stage for students who require accessibility support.
  • Each graduate will walk across the stage once. Your name will be read out, as well as a brief citation and presentation of your diploma, certificates, etc. We look forward to celebrating each one of you! There will not be any images or slideshow used during the ceremony.
  • Once you leave the stage, a KSS staff member will take a photo of you holding your diploma/certificates at the side of the stage.  A link to these photos will be emailed to graduates later in the week.
  • KSS staff will lead graduates back to the gown return area before they are dismissed to their families.
